S využitím dosud nepublikovaných vzpomínek pilotů, kteří prováděli tajné dálkové a průzkumné lety a výsadky špionů nad Anglií, Irákem, Polskem a Sovětským svazem a stovek unikátních fotografií kniha popisuje historii, činnost a letouny zkušební a výzkumné jednotky Luftwaffe, tzv. Versuchverband, jedné z nejzáhadnějších, tajných a zřídkakdy popisovaných jednotek Luftwaffe před 2. světovou válkou i během ní.

In 1939, the German Air Ministry asked aircraft manufacturers for proposals for an "Amerikabomber," an ultra-long-range, four-engined aircraft capable of attacking the United States from airfields in Germany. Projects were tendered by Junkers, Focke-Wulf, and Messerschmitt. The latter proposed the Me 264 and Messerschmitt's personal influence was such that he was not only allowed to go ahead with the design, but was also given an immediate order for three aircraft. Using original German documentation and rare photographs, this book details the story of the remarkable Amerikabomber projects. Aircraft types featured in the book include the Me 264, the Ta 400, Fw 238, Ju 390 and the jet-powered Ho XVIII B flying wing. The book also examines the reality behind the myth associated with Germany's atomic bomb carrier.

This is the remarkable story of the Verschuchsverband -- the Trials and Research Unit of the Luftwaffe High Command, one of the most intriguing, clandestine and rarely-covered units of the Luftwaffe before and during World War II. The Verschuchsverband was tasked with the assessment of captured Allied fighters using the so-called 'Wanderzirkus Rosarius' which toured German fighter units displaying captured British and American aircraft such as Spitfires, a Typhoon, a Mosquito, P-51 Mustangs, P-38 Lightnings and P-47 Thunderbolts which were all repainted in German markings. Many of those are illustrated in color by leading aviation artist Tom Tullis. This is the first time that the story of this unit has been told and it offers a fascinating insight into German aeronautical history during the Nazi rise to power and during the war years.

Often described as brutal yet innovative in design, the massive 'push-pull' Dornier Do 335 all-weather heavy fighter was symbolic of late war German aircraft design--an extraordinary aircraft which could have been deadly in combat but ultimately arrived too late to prove itself. Maybe because of its unrealized potential, the '335' has held a special fascination for aviation enthusiasts, historians and modelers ever since its existence became public knowledge. The authors have now fully revised, updated and significantly expanded their work (by approximately 80 pages) incorporating, in particular, over 150 additional rare photographs, diagrams and new material about the development, construction and flying of the '335' and the little-known projects and concepts it spawned. Backed up by superb color profile artwork and detailed line drawings, this book represents the finest research on this enigmatic aircraft.
R. C. ('Dick') Riley (1921-2006) was one of the country's foremost railway photographers; starting with mono just prior to World War 2, he moved over to colour in the early 1950s, when such film was both expensive and slow. Working in the banking industry gave him the opportunity to travel widely and, aided by his trackside pass and contacts within the railway industry, he was able to access locations and views from which many other photographers were excluded. From his early work through to the end of main line steam in 1968 he took countless thousands of transparencies; over the years a number have been published but there remain a significant number that have yet to see the light of day. This large landscape format book showcases over 200 colour images taken by Dick Riley between the early 1950s and 1968. Whilst the bias will be towards the Southern and Western regions, the book will also include a significant number of illustrations on both the Eastern and London Midland regions. Dick Riley was also a prolific photographer of industrial railways, and the book will include a brief selection featuring these sites, as well as recording aspects such as signs and minutiae, which were largely ignored by other photographers. The book will also include vignettes of these photographs. The text has been compiled by his close friend and executor Rodney Lissenden, who had access to Dick Riley's personal diaries for anecdotal tales relating to the images concerned.
