Er hatte Rudolf Höss, den nach Kriegsende untergetauchten Kommandanten von Auschwitz, im Alleingang in seinem Versteck auf einem Bauernhof in Norddeutschland aufgespürt und so dafür gesorgt, dass ihm der Prozess gemacht wurde. 1947 wird Höss im früheren KZ-Auschwitz hingerichtet.
