Upon his death in 1932, he bequeathed his estate to the University of Rochester, which has operated it as a museum of photography and film since 1949, showcasing exhibits internationally. The ever-growing collection includes over 400,000 images and negatives, featuring works by renowned photographers such as Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen, and Ansel Adams, alongside more than 23,000 films, 5 million film stills, a significant silent film collection, historical technical equipment, and a library of over 40,000 books on photography and film.
