Autorka, Angličanka ukrajinského původu, románem úspěšně debutovala v roce 2005, ve svých šedesáti letech. Umí se podívat na ukrajinskou komunitu neotřele a výstižně, postavy jejího příběhu v čele s pošetilým, leč důstojným staříkem jsou napsány s humorným nadhledem i přiměřenou vážností. Vtipné a velmi čtivé.
