John L. Stephens

    28. listopad 1805 – 13.

• John Lloyd Stephens & Fredrick Catherwood explored a large part of the Maya region on two occasions, 1839 & 1841, later publishing two works that have become classics in the literature on ancient Maya cities: "Incidents of Travel in Central America, Chiapas & Yucatan", which appeared in 1841, & "Incidents of Travel in Yucatan" in 1843, both written by Stphens & illustrated by Catherwood.
