Není to jen výběr veršů autora Les Fleurs du Mal v překladech celé plejády našich nejlepších básníků - je to doslova portrét básníka a jeho doby. Janu Tomešovi se podařilo sestavit z Baudelairových veršů, dobových dokumentů, grafik, fotografií a vyjádření přátel a kritiků vynikající knihu, která je bezesporu ozdobou každé knihovny.

Výbor typických ukázek z autorovy básnické sbírky Květy zla, která patří mezi základní kameny novodobé světové poezie. Básně doplňuje úvodní esej, výňatky ze soudů o Baudelairově díle, přehled nejdůležitějších událostí z básníkova života a dobové ilustrace.

Žánr básní v próze, pohybující se v krajně kultivované podobě na pomezí poezie, esejů, maxim i starých rytin, se u nás příliš nepěstoval. Pro připomínku mohou padnout jména Víta Obrtela nebo Jana Vladislava a před nimi – jak jinak – Jaroslava Vrchlického. Jejich domovem je Francie. Antologie Plameny v zrcadle sleduje jejich proměny od Baudelaira přes Rimbauda, Mallarméa a Prousta až k Jacobovi a Reverdymu. Mají být „klenotem“ a „líbezným šerosvitem života“, zároveň však dovedou s radioaktivní intenzitou vyjadřovat vnitřní či vnější životní zážitek či zachytit výmluvný střípek krvavě vážné životní epizody. V literatuře reprezentují v čiré podobě řád a tvar.

Tato básnická sbírka vznikala řadu let, její autor i vydavatel byli stíhání za urážku náboženské mravnosti i veřejné morálky, řada básní nesměla být uveřejněna vůbec, nakonec bylo zakázáno knihu vydávat. Kniha obsahuje celkem šest částí, celkem 145 básní. Vůbec nejslavnější a nejrozsáhlejší z nich je 1. oddíl nazvaný Splín a ideál, tyto básně vypovídají o poslání, umění nebo o postavení umělce, hovoří také o ženách, které autor současně miloval i nenáviděl, protože ho přitahovaly i odpuzovaly, tak se v básních střídá milostná touha a krutá bezcitnost.

Baudelairovo básnické dílo mělo velký vliv na moderní, hlavně symbolistickou poezii. Jeho nejvýznačnější sbírky jsou Květy zla a Malé básně v próze. Předkládaný výběr básní uspořádal překladatel Gustav Francl a nese název po jedné z nejpůsobivějších básní.

Slavný a pro nejmladší české básníky po první světové válce objevitelský význam mající překlad plejády francouzských básníků od Ch. Baudelaira přes generaci „prokletých" až k vrcholům symbolismu. Doslov napsal Vítězslav Nezval, k vydání připravil, ediční poznámku a vysvětlivky sestavil dr. Miroslav Halík. Jedenácté vydání.

Výbor ze slavné sbírka veršů, vydané poprvé v r. 1857, která v době svého vzniku vzbudila nesmírné pohoršení měšťácké společnosti. Sbírku tvoří 6 částí: Spleen a ideál, Pařížské obrazy, Víno, Květy zla, Vzpoura a Smrt. V básních je zcela obnaženo srdce člověka, rozpolceného mezi hrůzou před životem a extází z jeho krásy, člověka, který je nepřítelem každé prostřednosti a všednosti, se zálibou ve výstřední obraznosti.

Svět dekadentního básníka. Svazek obsahuje nový překlad textů Útěšné maximy o lásce, Rakety a Mé srdce obnažené a první český překlad Baudelariových Projektů a plánů románů a novel, Fragmentů, Autobiografické poznámky a Stránek z deníku.

Baudelairův listář čítající na sedmnáct set dopisů není jen sbírkou jedinečných dokumentů o básníkově životě, díle a době. Je to také jakýsi první náčrt autobiografie, při jejímž psaní se básník Květů zla chtěl opírat, jak píše v jednom dopise matce, právě o svou korespondenci. Kniha, kterou už básník nestačil napsat, se měla jmenovat Mé srdce obnažené – nebo volněji a možná věrněji Mé srdce, tak jak je – a měla být nejen historií jeho fixní ideje věnovat se stůj co stůj poezii, umění tak jak mu rozuměl on – a jak mu v mnohém rozumíme dnes i my.

Padesát poetických textů, v nichž básník předvádí ve fragmentární tříšti tehdejší život francouzské metropole a vyslovuje soucit s vyvrženci měšťácké společnosti.

Sbírka próz obsahuje tři soubory Báseň o hašiši, Poživač opia a O vínu a hašiši stojící na pomezí eseje a básně v próze, ačkoli Baudelaire čtenáře ujišťuje, že se snažil podat vědecký popis stavů opojení, vyzdvihnout rozkoše i upozornit na všechna nebezpečí drogy. Jako vše, čeho se dotkl autorův poetický duch, získaly i popisy stavů opojení sílu básnického obrazu a pronikavost prozaického výrazu.

Výbor z díla. Verše a básně v próze vybral, uspořádal a doplnil doprovodnými citacemi Vladimír Mikeš, který je také autorem eseje, životopisného pásma, vysvětlivek a bibliografické i ediční poznámky. Kniha obsahuje Nadarovy portréty Baudeleira a fotografie soudobé Paříže od Eugèna Atgeta.

První svazek přináší čtyři překladatelská díla základního významu z prvního období básníkovy translační činnosti z let 1927–1931: výbor z Poea, úplný překlad tehdy známého básnického odkazu Rimbaudova a Mallarméova a část Baudelairových Květů zla. Překlady těchto čtyř básníků vznikaly z nespokojenosti s dosavadní podobou těchto básníků v češtině a z přání dát českému čtenáři odkaz průkopníků moderní poezie v moderním básnickém znění. Svazek edičně připravili a ediční poznámku napsali Milan Blahynka (Poe, Mallarmé, Baudelaire) a Václav Kubín (Rimbaud).

Esej o Baudelairovi. Vyd. 2., upravené a rozšířené. Překlad Otokara Levého, který poprvé vyšel roku 1919 v nakladatelství Alois Srdce, upravil, vysvětlivkami opatřil, doslov a ediční poznámku napsal Petr Turek.

Longtemps, la critique d'art fut considérée, dans l'œuvre de Baudelaire, comme d'importance secondaire. Aux éblouissements de l'inspiration poétique, ne pouvait-on pas opposer la nature essentiellement alimentaire d'un labeur que le poète, sa correspondance faisant foi, définissait comme " avant tout un remplissage de colonnes " ? Or, dans ces écrits sur la peinture et la musique, se déploie, en réalité, une pensée esthétique autonome, émergent une réflexion propre et un goût singulier. Avec les " Salons " notamment s'élabore chez Baudelaire le rapport spécifique qu'entretiennent perception, souvenir et expérience esthétique. Aujourd'hui reconnu comme un ecrivain majeur de l'histoire de la poésie française, Baudelaire est devenu un classique. Barbey d'Aurevilly voyait en lui "un Dante d'une époque dechue". Au travers de son oeuvre, Baudelaire a tenté de tisser et de démontrer les liens entre le mal et la beauté, le bonheur et l'idéal inaccessible (A une Passante), la violence et la volupté (Une Martyre), entre le poète et son lecteur (" Hypocrite lecteur, mon semblable, mon frère "), entre les artistes à travers les âges (Les Phares). Le Spleen de Paris, également connu sous le nom de Petits Poèmes en prose, est une collection de 51 courts poèmes en prose de Charles Baudelaire. La collection a été publiée à titre posthume en 1869 et est associée au mouvement littéraire moderniste. La Fanfarlo est une œuvre du poète français Charles Baudelaire, publiée pour la première fois en janvier 1847. La nouvelle décrit un récit fictionnalisé de la liaison de l'écrivain avec une danseuse, Jeanne Duval.
