English Summary Within this work burr formation in flat surface grinding is analyzed. The main objective is an increased understanding of burr formation at the workpiece edges by identifying the basic mechanisms. Further on, relevant input factors on the burr geometry are identified. This work focuses on grinding experiments with steel workpieces and a CBN grinding wheel. Based on the achieved results first approaches for burr minimization strategies are developed.
