With the subject ‚Public Cash-Flow and Spatial Development‘, the Academy for Spatial Research and Planning (ARL) discusses a topic whose vast and permanent political significance has been undisputed. From time to time it emerges in varying shapes in the focus of public interest. All financial policy measures have spatial effects, even such which do not have an explicit focus on spatial development. Nevertheless, spatial implications of fiscal decisions are very often not included in the political decision-making process; spatial consequences of political decisions are not analyzed and evaluated in a sufficiently systematic manner. In view of the aforesaid, the present volume provides exemplary research and regional analyses, theoretic research on spatial effects of public funding and fund utilization in a wide spectrum of current economic and fiscal topics. With this publication, ARL intends to promote and to interlink the scientific and political discussion at the interface between spatial research and financial studies.
