Lexicon in Aristeae ad Philocratem epistulam

Více o knize

The Lexicon collects all words (except for proper and geographic names) used in the so-called Letter of Aristeas to Philocrates, a Jewish Hellenistic work containing the most ancient account about the origins of the Septuagint, the first translation of the Torah in Greek. The index of lemmas is based on Pelletier’s edition (1962), but the principal variants of both Wendland’s and Thackeray’s editions (1900), as well as the conjectures proposed by others scholars, are also pointed out. Each entry includes: an Italian translation of the word quoted in all its contexts; a brief explanation of the meaning and/ or usage where necessary; parallel or related texts of the Septuagint, New Testament, other Jewish and pagan writings, papyri and inscriptions from the Hellenistic era, especially in the case of technical terms, rare words and neologisms. Thus the work provides a useful tool not only for biblical studies, but also for lexicographical research in the field of Hellenistic Greek.
