Ina Meyer studied economics at the Free University Berlin. After a training period at the European Commission, Directorate General Economic and Financial Affairs, she was research associate at the Technical University Berlin, Institute for Environmental Management and Planning. Within the interdisciplinary research programme "Climate Change and Coastal Zones' she was involved in the case study „Island Sylt“ where she conducted a cost-benefit analysis of sand replenishment as an adaptation to rising sea levels. As research affiliate of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Department Global Change and Social Systems, she was a contributing author to the IPCC Third Assessment Report, Working Group III on mitigation. In addition, she carried out research on climate change and international consumption patterns in the field of global private vehicle use.
