A new perspective on analog-to-digital conversion of continuous-time signals

Více o knize
This thesis describes a new perspective on analog-to-digital conversion. An analog signal influences a linear analog system which is time-invariant between known sampling times. We sample and quantize some state variables of the analog system and possibly use them to apply control or to modify the system. Finally the quantized observations are passed to a Kalman-filter, which recovers an estimate of the input signal. We describe the general design philosophy, some approaches for the design of the analog part and the estimator. Simulations verify viability of the operations, and we demonstrate feasibility of a real system through a proof of concept hardware prototype. We give illustrating examples to aid transfer of theory to application.
