Development of tabulated chemistry methods for the accurate simulation of turbulent combustion systems

Tabulated chemistry methods are well-established in Large Eddy Simulations (LES) of turbulent combustion processes. However, they have some limitations that are being dealt with in the present work. Different extensions of the Flamelet Generated Manifolds (FGM) model using additional transport equations and chemical source term formulations are proposed, aiming for an improved prediction of pollutants and minor species. Furthermore, the enthalpy is introduced as an additional control variable for the table access to deal with the heat transfer within the fluid and at walls. In addition, an approach was developed that enables the inclusion of preferential diffusion effects by introducing additional terms in the transport equations of the control variables.
