The Spirit of the Border

Set in the late eighteenth century Ohio River Valley, the novel follows Lewis Wetzel, a historical figure committed to defending European settlements against Native Americans. The narrative explores the contrasting paths of two brothers amidst the efforts of Moravian Church missionaries to convert Indigenous peoples. Tension escalates when the Village of Peace is destroyed, prompting settlers to confront the violent Girty brothers. The author aims to portray the raw spirit of the Western frontier, while acknowledging the brutality of the era without glorifying it.
