This in-depth study explores a monumental wall hanging by renowned Bauhaus artist Anni Albers, who played a pivotal role in elevating textiles from craft to fine art. The wall hanging, Camino Real, was first exhibited outside Mexico City at David Zwirner, New York, in 2019. Commissioned in 1967 by architects Ricardo Legorreta and Luis Barragan for the Hotel Camino Real, it was completed in 1968 and showcases Albers's deep influence from Latin American art and culture.
