Flags on the Bayou

Set against the backdrop of the Civil War, the narrative follows Hannah Laveau, an enslaved woman accused of murder, as she escapes with abolitionist Florence Milton. Their journey through Louisiana's bayous is fraught with danger from slavecatchers and local authorities. Meanwhile, Wade Lufkin, a war-weary surgeon, grapples with his past and finds himself drawn to Hannah.
