He decides to accompany her on the perilous journey, but first, he must escape the clutches of Zhu, the leader of a gang of homeless boys. Zhu, upon discovering Yaya's wealthy background, plots to kidnap her for ransom. As they flee south, Yaya and Tuduo encounter a range of characters, both kind and cruel. Their contrasting backgrounds and personalities lead them to valuable lessons about judging others by character rather than status.
