Work Safety Culture: on the Edge of Chaos

Více o knize

In light of the constantly shifting dynamics of change and the increasing complexity and unpredictability of our environment, there is a critical need to explore new approaches to safety culture. These challenges offer an opportunity to break free from habitual thinking, which often hinders progress. The author previously posited that safety culture significantly influences citizens' quality of life and is essential for long-term national security. This led to a critical examination of the cognitive foundations shaping our understanding of occupational safety culture and the proposal of a model for sustainable safety culture. This model aimed to address the socio-technical and economic specifics of the Polish work environment, integrating safety research with sustainability principles. Four years later, amidst unprecedented global events, there is a pressing need to substantively verify this model. Safety, viewed through the lens of safety culture, is multifaceted, extending beyond mere absence of threats to encompass subjective and objective elements, along with organizational, environmental, political, and economic factors. Individual components must be analyzed within a broad research perspective, prompting the current study to adopt a systemic approach, which is deemed superior to traditional reductionist methods.
