After losing her job due to her boss's scandal, lobbyist Dempsey Jo Killebrew reluctantly returns to her family's dilapidated home in Guthrie, Georgia, to help refurbish it. Faced with unexpected challenges, including a squatter and nosy locals, Dempsey discovers a new sense of purpose and ultimately finds her way back home.
