The narrative follows Hadron, a Padwar serving John Carter, as he embarks on a quest to rescue Sanoma Tora from the clutches of Tul Axtar. His mission takes an unexpected turn when he aids Tavia, a slave girl from his own race, leading them to her city, Tjanath, where they are imprisoned. Mistaken for a spy, Hadron learns of Tul Axtar's terrifying plans to create a powerful warrior army and deploy a devastating new weapon against Barsoom. Meanwhile, John Carter's fleet is en route, unaware of the impending danger.
