After immigrating in 1968 due to political unrest in Czechoslovakia, he pursued higher education in nuclear engineering and physics, ultimately earning a PhD. His career spanned prestigious institutions, including UCLA and CERN, where he contributed to significant advancements in particle physics. Settling back in Edmonton, he worked as a Detector Engineer/Physicist until his retirement in 2011, reflecting on his journey and the values that shaped his new homeland.
