Set in 1930, the book explores Bob Brown's revolutionary vision for the future of reading, where traditional printed books become obsolete. He invented a machine for reading texts in a hyper-abbreviated format called "readies," utilizing em dashes to replace words. Brown's ambition included transmitting these condensed texts wirelessly. Despite its limited initial release of only 150 copies, this new edition aims to reintroduce Brown's innovative ideas and works to contemporary readers, highlighting his contributions to literature and technology.
