In this book I seek to clearly address the importance of Otto Gottlieb for biodiversity in Brazil and bring to light some concepts of the chemistry of natural products and their applications in other areas of knowledge. I do a survey of the Brazilian biomes and the importance of their conservation for the species. I reflect on the importance of the chemistry of natural products for contemporary society in order to bring solutions for the best use of our available natural resources
