Začátek knihy mě zaskočil. Působil zmateně, zahlceně postavami a přílišným množstvím popisů, ve kterých se čtenář snadno ztratí. Teprve od zhruba 60. strany se mi začal příběh usazovat a vtahovat mě do děje. Thriller jako takový má rozhodně napětí a špionskou atmosféru, kterou bych od bývalého agenta CIA (autora) čekala, ale zbytečně podrobný styl vyprávění čtení často brzdil. Přesto mě kniha nakonec bavila a oceňuju její hloubku i to, že v mnoha ohledech překonala film. Pokud hledáte temnější, realisticky působící špionážní příběh, Rudá volavka za přečtení stojí – jen je třeba mít trpělivost s rozjezdem.
