Seven courses, seven guests, twenty-four hours that will obliterate everything. When Liz Brinkley, a recent NYC transplant, and her husband receive an invitation to an exclusive soiree hosted by the insufferable lifestyle guru Britta Harris-Che, Liz initially declines, fearing for her young children left with a teenage babysitter. However, she RSVPs to support her husband’s desire to connect with the elite crowd. The dinner party includes the likes of Padma Khare, a new mom targeted by Britta, and Mabel Young, the enigmatic “Patron Saint of the PTA.” As the evening unfolds, a “red alert” interrupts their gathering, announcing the arrival of deadly atmospheric masses resembling “pixelated static clouds” that are wreaking havoc in major U.S. cities. With the directive to find shelter immediately, panic ensues among the guests, all of whom have children at home. A shimmering net looms over the town, and leaving becomes impossible. The group retreats to the hosts’ wine cellar, where differing opinions on survival strategies lead to rising tensions. Desperate to return to her children, Liz finds herself increasingly willing to do whatever it takes. As the static clouds outside continue their deadly assault, the atmosphere inside the cellar becomes fraught with suspicion and fear, revealing that some guests may be even more desperate than she is.
