    Irving Berlin byl ruský rodák a naturalizovaný americký skladatel a textař, jeden z nejplodnějších amerických hudebních skladatelů všech dob. Byl jedním z mála tvůrců z Tin Pan Alley a Broadwaye, kteří skládali hudbu i texty. Přestože se nikdy nenaučil číst hudbu nad rámec základní úrovně, s pomocí asistentů složil přes 3000 písní, které zásadně ovlivnily americkou hudbu a kulturu. Složil také hudbu k sedmnácti filmům a jednadvaceti divadelním představením.
