Deníkové záznamy Petera, který experimentuje s okultními vědami, začínají v létě 1967. Jeho záznamy se však postupně proměňují v příběh zoufalého hledání skutečné panny, kterou by svedl a zároveň kroniku démonické lásky. Nakonec však není schopen rozlišit mezi špatným „tripem“ a návštěvou ze samotného pekla. Kniha tak ukazuje nebezpečí i podvod spojený s procesem sebe-odhalování. Irwinův román je určen všem, kteří se chtějí dozvědět více, jaké to bylo prožívat mládí v 60. letech, období, které patřilo amfetaminům, provozování výstředního sexu a satanistickým bohoslužbám.

Hrdinou této filosofické grotesky je žena v domácnosti Marcia, jejímž největším nepřítelem je nepořádek. Irwin opět prokázuje jak živou a originální má představivost – jednak volbou neobvyklého námětu, jednak bizarním zpracováním. Marcia je žena v domácnosti a jejím největším nepřítelem je nepořádek. Denně bojuje s prachem, špínou, rzí, prostě vším tím, co vniká do našich životů a působí rušivě. Zosobněním špíny a hnusu je duch jménem Mucor, který ji při jejím ranním úklidu navštíví – proti němu bojuje Marcia s pomocí takových velikánů západního myšlení a umění, jako jsou Darwin, Teilhard de Chardin, Leonardo da Vinci, Blake, Dostojevskij a dokonce i Ježíš Kristus. Jak je tomu u Irwina vždy, i v tomto románu hraje klíčovou roli neotřelý humor vycházející z juxtapozice vysokého, vzletného myšlení a drobných „prkotin“ každodenního života.

Čtenář je zván na velkolepý výlet do hájemství erotiky a smrti – že se nudit nebude je předem jasné. Orientální erotická fantazie Roberta Irwina, jež je podobně jako již česky vydaný román Satan mě chce, satirou mystických duchovních hnutí, zavede čtenáře do sultánova paláce v Cařihradu. Pomocí svádění, kouzel a lstí je Orkhan váben k poslednímu vyvrcholení, které má být božskou extází. Dokáže Orkhan rozpoznat, že harémová erotika má i svou temnou stránku? A dokáže se vzepřít rafinované hře, když dosud žil celý svůj život jako loutka? Tato novela je vytříbeným dekadentním dílkem, které potěší nejen milovníky erotické literatury, ale zaujme i neotřelým smyslem pro humor a parodickými pasážemi namířenými na naši vlastní kulturu.
