As occupational transitions rise, employees face heightened insecurity regarding their employment situations, with formal workplace guarantees diminishing. Society and research must adapt to these changes, emphasizing the concept of employability—continuous adaptation to the evolving labor market. However, the responsibility for this shift cannot rest solely on individual employees, nor should the repercussions of company restructuring fall entirely on society. Companies that dismiss employees or demand greater flexibility must be held more accountable. Concurrently, individuals should transition from passive recipients of assistance to active partners in their re-orientation process. The normalization of occupational transitions paved the way for the scientific evaluation of the European research project "Social Convoy and Sustainable Employability: Innovative Strategies for Outplacement/Replacement Counselling" (SOCOSE), led by Thomas Kieselbach at the University of Bremen. This interdisciplinary research involved psychologists and social scientists across five countries—Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands—who studied the social convoy from dismissal to successful labor market reintegration. Contributions from labor law and business ethics further enriched the findings.
