Více o knize

A perennial favorite in the Norton Critical Editions series, this edition is based on the thoroughly annotated 1813 first edition text, tailored for undergraduate readers. "Backgrounds and Sources" features biographical portraits of Austen by family members and notable biographers Claire Tomalin and David Nokes. It includes seventeen letters from Austen, eight of which are new to this edition, providing insight into her close-knit society and her writing. Samples of her early work, including the epistolary *Love and Friendship*, allow readers to trace her development as a writer and engage in comparative reading. "Criticism" presents eighteen assessments of the novel from both nineteenth- and twentieth-century commentators, with six new additions. Notably, it features an interview with Colin Firth regarding the recent BBC adaptation. Additional contributions come from various scholars, including Richard Whately, Margaret Oliphant, and Marilyn Butler, among others. The edition also includes a Note on Money, a new Chronology of Austen's life and work, and an updated Selected Bibliography. Norton Critical Editions are recognized for their authoritative texts, comprehensive pedagogical apparatus, and accessibility, making them the preferred choice for scholarship at over 2,000 universities worldwide.

Pro milovníky klasiky, nádherná kniha. Opravdu, za mě skvělá kniha, kterou si musí každý aspoň jednou přečíst. Jane píše krásně, jemně a nádherně se to čte. Ale samozřejmě, né pro každého.

Skvěle zachycuje dobovou atmosféru a komentuje tehdejší stav společnosti.
