John Locke was an English philosopher and physician who is widely regarded as one of the greatest Enlightenment thinkers. Locke is also commonly referred to as the Father of Liberalism and his books were very important towards the development of political philosophy. Locke's Second Treatise of Government is one of his greatest works. The book, which was published in 1689, details Locke's ideas on natural rights and contract theory.
